Mikel Arteta is eyeing up a move for Sevilla’s Juan Jordan to bolster his midfield options.

The Gunners beat London rivals Chelsea on Boxing Day 3-1 to provide Arteta and the fans a huge boost after a seven-game winless streak in the Premier League.

Arteta will be hooping to build on their latest win with a string of victories in the upcoming weeks and inject new life into the team when the January transfer window opens this weekend.

The Sun claims Arteta has targeted Jordan, who is valued at around £32million by Sevilla.

Jordan has been in impressive form for Sevilla this season and despite having a £55million release clause in his existing contract, the La Liga club are interested in offers below that valuation.

Jordan was a key figure in the Sevilla side who won last season’s Europa League and claimed fourth spot in La Liga.

Jordan would provide Arsenal the creativity they have been starved off this season, with the Gunners only netting 15 goals this season.

Despite signing Thomas Partey over the summer, the former Atletico Madrid man has struggled with injuries and Arteta will be hoping to bolster his midfield options this January as the likes of Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos have also been below-par thus far this season.
