Manchester United have only managed to acquire Donny van de Beek from Ajax so far and have been linked with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles.
However, German publication Sport1 now claim the Red Devils are close to signing Maitland-Niles.

The 23-year-old was on the verge of joining Wolves earlier in the transfer window and Arsenal are now believed to want to offload fringe players to raise funds for new recruits.
The report claims United are 80% of the way to completing a deal for Maitland-Niles which is said to be announced in the next few days.
Manchester United will reportedly pay £20 million plus add-ons for the versatile England international.
