Napoli are interested in signing Sokratis, according to reports in Italy.

The 32-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at the and has fallen down the pecking order under .

The Greek centre-back did not feature once for when the season restarted, with Arteta preferring the services of David Luiz, , and Rob Holding at the back.

Sokratis’ playing time may be further limited this season following the arrival of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille, with Arteta now having up to nine centre-backs at his disposal, including , who has been sent out on a season-long to German side VfB .

Arteta will have to sell to raise funds for new recruits this summer and according to Sky Italy, Sokratis is one of the players on the exit list.

Napoli are believed to be keen on signing a centre-back as a potential replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who is wanted by Manchester City, and have target the centre-back. The side will however be hoping to acquire Sokratis without a transfer fee.
