Thomas Partey wants to join Arsenal at the end of the current season, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s finest midfielders under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid and has attracted interest from several clubs abroad with his performances this season.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Ghanaian in recent weeks with reports suggesting they have met the player’s £43.5million release clause within his contract.

Its now being claimed that Partey wants to make a move to England when the next transfer window opens and has chosen Arsenal as his preferred destination.

However, its thought that will be unlikely to trigger Partey’s release clause and would consider offering Alexandre Lacazette to Atletico in any potential deal.

Partey’s father, Jacob, last month stated that his son had entered talks to sign for the Gunners, but the midfielder’s agent poured cold water on these rumours.

Nonetheless, Mikle Arteta has made it a priority to strengthen Arsenal’s defensive midfield options this summer and, if reports are to be believed, the Spaniard will look to push on with a move for Partey.

Although Atletico would like to keep hold of Partey and tie him down to a new deal they may well be open to the idea of cashing in if the Ghana international wants a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano at the end of the season.
