Arsenal are preparing to let Mesut Ozil leave on a free next summer because they want to prioritise new deals for three other players, according to reports.

The German playmaker will enter the final 12 months of his existing contract at the Emirates in June and is pocketing £350,000-a-week.

And while Ozil, 31, is happy to remain at the club, Arsenal are set to let him leave for nothing as they look to tie down new deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka, according to the Express.

Aubameyang’s deal also expires next summer and has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester Untied and Real Madrid in recent weeks. But the Gunners want him to stay having impressed since arrival from Dortmund back in January 2018.

Nelson, 20, and Saka, 18, also see their deals expire next summer. Talks of a new deal are believed to be underway for Saka, while Nelson has proven to the club that he also has a long-term future at the Emirates.

But while Arsenal are considering letting Ozil go, the German’s agent, Erkut Sogul, recently claimed that the midfielder is happy to remain at the club:

“I have said it before, and I am saying it again that he is really happy where he is at Arsenal.

“He still has a contract to go and there is no change.

“We will see what the future holds when the contract ends but for now, there is nothing I can say.”

Ozil has become Arsenal’s Marmite man since his arrival from Real Madrid in 2013, with many fans admiring his cultured feet, finesse and vision, while others have slated him for his lack of interest and inconsistency over the years.

It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal put the German up for sale this summer to recoup some transfer funds or if they let his contract run out.
