Thomas Partey’s father has confirmed that Arsenal are holding talks with his son over a potential summer move to the Emirates.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a reported £43million move to Arsenal this summer and it appears the midfielder’s dad, Jacob, will be delighted if his son gets his move to the Premier League.
Ghana Web claim Partey Sr recently told a radio station that talks between his son and the Gunners were ongoing, but Atletico Madrid are determined to keep hold of him.
“I called my son after hearing the rumours and he told me that the rumours are true.
“He told me they are holding talks between him and Arsenal. It all depends on the offer Atletico are demanding.
“If he goes to Arsenal fine, they have a lot of supporters in Ghana.
“I will be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal. What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him.”
Partey has established himself as a key figure in Diego Simeone’s side and impressed in the Champions League triumph over Liverpool.
The Ghanaian still has three years remaining on his contract, but it is thought Arsenal have triggered a £43.5million release clause allowing them to speak to the midfielder.
However, Atletico are reportedly ready to offer him a new five-year deal which would include an increased salary and larger release clause before anything is finalised with the Gunners.
Arsenal are expected to have limited funds to spend this summer and could be willing to add Alexandre Lacazette to the equation.
Atletico are looking to sign a new forward and have been linked with a move for Lacazette in recent weeks, so a part-exchange deal could be on the cards this summer.
