Arsenal have tabled an offer to sign Espanyol’s Marc Roca this summer, according to reports in Spain.

With Dani Ceballos set to return to Real Madrid when his loan deal expires at the Emirates at the end of June, Mikel Arteta will be on the hunt for a replacement this summer.

Arsenal have already been linked to several midfielders including Valencia’s Carlos Soler, Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Real Betis’ Nabil Fekir, and according to Catalan publication Sport, the Gunners have added Roca to the list.

The 23-year-old was supposedly on Arsenal’s radar before landing Ceballos last summer and remain interested in the Espanyol midfielder.

Sport (via Metro) go on to say that Roca is Arteta’s first-choice to replace Ceballos and have made a bid for his services.

But it’s claimed the two clubs will wait for the Coronavirus pandemic to come to an end before opening serious negotiations.

Roca reportedly has a (£35million) release clause in his current contract at Espanyol but the struggling La Liga may be tempted to lower and sell the midfielder if they are confined to the Spanish second-tier.
