Mesut Ozil’s agent insists his client is ‘really happy’ at Arsenal and has no intention of leaving the club anytime soon.

The 31-year-old will have a year left to run on his existing £350k-a-week contract at the Emirates in June.

The German playmaker, who has scored one goal and contributed three assists this season, has become less influential at Arsenal since Arsene Wenger’s departure from the club and has continuously come under scrutiny from fans and pundits alike for his unimpressive displays.

Ozil has previously been linked with moves to Italy and China in the past and has recently been touted with a summer move to Turkish side Fenerbahce – a club he has strong connections with – but his representative Erkut Sogut says any talk of a move is extremely premature.

Speaking to Goal (via the Daily Mail) Sogut said:

‘You never know in football. First of all, you can never predict the movement of players.

‘I have said it before, and I am saying it again that he [Ozil] is really happy where he is at Arsenal. He still has a contract to go and there is no change.

‘We will see what the future holds when the contract ends but for now, there is nothing I can say.’

Ozil will be in the same boat as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Both of their deals expire at the end of next season meaning the Gunners could either cash in on them or risk losing both on a free next summer should they fail to agree new terms with the club.
