Arsenal and Everton are trailing Chelsea in the race to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
The highly rated 22-year-old has attracted the attentions of the Premier League trio with his performances for the Ligue 1 side this season where he has made 34 appearances in all competitions and scored one goal.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to reinforce his backline this summer and has been linked with the likes of Manchester United’s Chris Smalling and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano, and the Spaniard appears to have added Magalhaes to his shortlist.
But according to reports in France (via the Daily Mail), both Arsenal and Everton are trailing Chelsea for the Brazilian’s signature, with Frank Lampard’s side ‘almost completed’ the transfer.
Lille will want at least £30miilion to even consider selling Magalhaes and should reports prove accurate about Chelsea nearly completing the deal, then Arsenal will have to move swiftly if they have any chance of securing the defender’s services this summer.
