Dani Ceballos is set to leave Real Madrid this summer in search of football but would rather make a return to his former club Real Betis over Arsenal.

The midfielder is currently serving a season-long loan at Arsenal from Real Madrid where he has impressed. So much so that Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to make the move a permanent one when the summer transfer window opens.

However, Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo claims the 23-year-old would favour a return to Betis as he feels he need to play regularly to stand a chance of making Spain’s Euro 2021 side next summer.

It’s understood that Real Madrid are unable to guarantee him regular first-team football with Martin Odegaard and Oscar Rodriguez also returning from their respective loan spells at the end of the season. In addition, Zinedine Zidane is also though to be keen to bring in new signings and have identified and been linked with moves for the likes of Paul Pogba, Fabian Ruiz and Donny Van de Beek.

Ceballos spent three seasons with Betis between 2014 and 2017 before moving to the Bernabeu. He was then loaned out to Arsenal last summer for the current season where he contributed one goal and two assists in 24 appearances so far for the Gunners.

Although Arsenal appear keen to sign Ceballos, the Spaniard believes his best chance of playing regularly would be back at Betis. Should this prove to be the case then the Gunners will have to look for alternative options and have reportedly been linked with moves for Nabil Fekir and Thomas Partey this summer.
