Arsenal centre back Calum Chambers continued the fine tradition of Gunners centre halves appearing to have no idea what they’re doing in the first half of his team’s clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

Granted the opposition was of the highest calibre, but the former Southampton man looked shaky from the word go. Indeed, he was done within the first minute as Fernandinho caught him out with a pass through to Gabriel Jesus.

Despite it being a quality ball from the Brazilian to his compatriot, Chambers looked like he had more than enough space to get to the ball ahead of the City striker.

Alas, no. The 24-year-old was sprinted past with ease and Jesus then kept him on his heels before finding Kevin De Bruyne, who promptly rifled into the net.

The Arsenal fans certainly weren’t happy with the Englishman.

It’s clear that these fans aren’t particularly happy with the Arsenal centre half. There’s no doubt that Chambers should have done better with the goal.

Yes, he’s not a quick defender, we all know that. That’s one of the things that makes it so bizarre that he is continually played at right back at times.

However, he could have stuck a leg out here. He could have slid and blocked the pass. He could have tripped Jesus early on and taken the yellow card. Either way, he should have done more.

Still, there are Gunners supporters who were even more ruthless in their criticism than these ones.

Here are the Arsenal faithful who feel that Chambers needs to be shipped out of the Emirates Stadium as soon as possible. Honestly, it seems that they want almost the entire defence sold.

You can hardly blame them for that, because keeping goals out has been this team’s Achilles’ heel for about a decade now. They’ve simply been unable to get it right, no matter what they do.

Regularly playing sub-standard players like Chambers is part of that, of course, which is what the Gunners supporters have picked up on here.
