Arsenal have been linked the Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai as scouts were believed to have been present during his last game, according to football.london.

What’s the word?

The Hungarian winger had the subject of transfer speculation in the summer, with reports linking Szoboszlai with a move to the Emirates but a move never materialised.

Despite a poor first half for Szoboszlai, he came to light in the second half after his side fought back from 3-0 down to draw level before Mohamed Salah scored the winner 20 minutes from time.

Super intelligent

The Gunners’ are severely lacking in the creativity department. However, with Mesut Ozil reportedly on his way out of the club after a public dispute with the manager, there would be space in the team for the young Hungarian.

His shot has been described as a “thunderbolt” and someone who possesses “superintelligence”, that extra bite in midfield that Arsenal have been lacking in recent years.

Arsenal and Unai Emery should take full advantage of the opportunity to bring the youngster in. Not only will he improve as his career progresses, but the manager can use Szoboszlai to his strengths and potentially score more goals from midfield.

The Gunners’ have been criticised in recent weeks for playing three defensive midfielders and effectively starving supply to the strikers, particularly against Manchester United on Monday.

The Hungarian typically plays in central midfield but can also play out wide on the left if required, versatility would only benefit and strengthen Arsenal’s resources. After a mature performance on Wednesday, the 19-year-old has a bright future.
