Arsenal ended their pre-season in defeat at the hands of Barcelona at the Nou Camp but that didn’t stop much of the Gunners fanbase praise 19-year-old Joe Willock for his performance in the match.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s first-half opener was then cancelled out by a Ainsley Maitland-Niles own goal before Luis Suarez tucked home the winner late on.
Willock put in yet another assured and composed showing in the heart of midfield against one of Europe’s big boys and he has drawn further plaudits.
One supporter believed the starlet was showing signs of the great Patrick Vieira who dominated Arsenal’s midfield with his presence for years. Another fan said he’s already far better than Granit Xhaka too.
Others said he looked to be a ‘top talent’ whilst one Gooner called him ‘class.’ Beast, big asset and excellent were just further words to describe his performance.
With the opening game against Newcastle United rapidly approaching, many believe the 19-year-old should be starting the game – one supporter said that if he were able to go on and do incredible things for the club then it would make him happier than anything else, claiming the recognition he is already receiving is bringing him to tears.
Here’s the best of the reaction:
At game tonight and physically he’s grown into a beast!! Big asset
