A rare appearance at an Arsenal game for Stan Kroenke gave the fans a perfect opportunity to ridicule their owner.
At the meeting of his two football (or soccer) clubs as Arsenal took on Colorado Rapids, the owner was pictured sitting next to Gunners officials such as director Raul Sanllehi and newly-appointed technical director Edu.
Seen in conversation with Sanllehi, Arsenal fans had a field day making fun of their owner as the club started their pre-season preparations with a comfortable 3-0 win.
The lack of transfers and funds in the current transfer window was a popular area to pick on for the Gunners supporters, while the emergence earlier this week of the petition opposing the methods of Kroenke’s ownership was also a popular stick to beat the American with.
Others referenced his very occasional showings at the Emirates Stadium, while some attempted to play on a supposed lack of football knowledge on Kroenke’s part.
The conversation seemed to be a source of light relief despite Arsenal taking just one new signing to the United States and leaving their rebellious captain at home, but it was clear that owner Kroenke was the main target of these fans’ wrath:
Stan – What happened to the old man who used to stand at the chair section?
Raul – He left over a year ago.
