It’s the moment these Arsenal fans have been waiting for – the announcement of a new player at The Emirates.
It has been a barren transfer window up until now, and following their efforts to sign Wilfried Zaha reportedly rebuffed by Crystal Palace, Arsenal’s transfer malaise looked set to continue.
However, on Tuesday afternoon, The Gunners finally announced that Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli is set to join the club on a long-term contract from Sao Paulo-based club Ituano.
Rather interestingly, no transfer fee has been mentioned within the announcement, though as the club confirm the forward’s arrival, fans are struggling getting to know their new recruit.
Accompanied by the sight of Martinelli in the new Arsenal home strip released on Monday, his signing has got the Gunners supporters talking about who he is rather than what he can bring to the team.
An intriguing line for fans to chew on will be the forward’s inclusion in the Team of the Year for Sao Paulo’s state division.
Thought to be a winger, the 18-year-old joins Arsenal’s attacking ranks – but while fans are relieved at some transfer activity, they seem a little perplexed over the identity of the Gunners new boy:
