Returning loan ace Reiss Nelson continued to impress fans in North London following his appearance in the Emirates Cup defeat to French side Lyon. Nelson replaced Alexandre Lacazette in the 11th minute after the Frenchman picked up a foot injury.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s volley gave the home side a first-half lead before Lyon substitute Moussa Dembele bagged a brace to secure the victory. Nelson played on the left side of midfield and shined with his blistering pace often becoming the focal point of multiple attacks.

The 19-year-old’s performances continued on from a brilliant debut season in the men’s game whilst on loan at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga where he scored eight goals in 29 appearances. Gunners boss Unai Emery has given Nelson plenty of opportunity to impress this pre-season and many Arsenal supporters believe he could be in line for a regular spot amongst the first-team.

One member of the Emirates crowd said his performance against Lyon was great, stating that you could really see the talent and potential on display. He even went on to say that he could become one of the best players in the England squad for years to come. These thoughts were echoed by another fan who said Nelson looked impressive also claiming he needs to work on his end product which a number of supporters also said.

Others want Emery to play the youngster above both Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan with one supporter believing the starlet was ready for Premier League football and wanted the club to sell Iwobi in order to fund a new central defensive addition. Another suggested that Nelson had so much more to offer than Mkhitaryan.
