Mesut Ozil has had an unsavoury reputation with many Arsenal fans over the past few years and his latest update has riled them up even more. The German playmaker rocked up to Arsenal’s pre-season training camp sporting a new silvery-blonde number – however, it turns out it wasn’t completely a fashion choice as the 30-year-old revealed he lost in a crossbar challenge to Alexandre Lacazette and the new hairstyle was punishment.
It hasn’t gone down well with The Gunners fanbase with some supporters quick to poke fun at their midfield flop. A segment of the Emirates faithful pointed out the similarities between Ozil and Women’s World Cup winning Megan Rapinoe whilst one other suggested he looked like a James Bond villain.
One fan replied demanding that the player be sold for having such a hairdo and others echoed that saying it would be easier for him to go missing in games – labelling him a smart chap for doing so.
Arsenal’s pre-season schedule continues in America with games against Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Real Madrid before returning to North London to face Lyon. Boss Unai Emery will hope that his Gunners side are raring to go by the time their final game against Barcelona comes around with the new Premier League season beginning on August 11th.
