By his usual standards, Mesut Ozil struggled last season, with just three assists to his name in 2018/19. And it seems that he may have delivered one sub-par performance too many – as these Arsenal fans seem extremely keen to see the German off this summer.
Fortunately for them, it looks like Ozil has potential suitors at Fenerbahce, with the Super Lig club’s fans on Twitter getting a hashtag calling for the midfielder’s arrival trending nationwide in Turkey on Monday.
#FenerSeniBekliyorMesut – which translates to ‘Fenerbahce Awaits You Mesut’ – seems to suggest that fans of the Turkish outfit are ready to welcome Ozil with open arms, as reports also circulate of Fenerbahce working on a deal to sign him on loan, according to TRT Spor (via Sport Witness).
In light of the developments, some Arsenal supporters seemed more than happy to urge their highest-paid player closer to the exit door – even if albeit temporarily – by highlighting their desire to sell the World Cup winner on Twitter.
With some begging for the move to materialise, these fans will be hoping that talk of Fenerbahce looking for ways to pay Ozil’s enormous wages and finance a switch turns out to be true:
