Some Arsenal supporters have been calling for their former record signing to be ditched following a ‘suggestion’ from ex-player Marc Overmars that Mesut Ozil should be sold and replaced by Ajax starlet Hakim Ziyech.
A report in Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad states Overmars rates the Ajax winger higher than 30-year-old Ozil, and suggested to Arsenal that they could sign the Moroccan for half of the fee they can expect to receive for the World Cup winner.
And it seems that some Gunners fans are irritated by Ozil’s apparent desire to stay as well as his £350k-a-week wages hurting their ability to offload him – while Overmars has previously stated that Ziyech could be on the move this summer.
So with an opportunity to bring in the attacker looking to be served on a plate by a former legend in Overmars passing them by, Arsenal supporters seem in favour of getting rid of the player they signed for £42.3m in 2013.
Working out a way in which to do so looks like the main task for these supporters, as the prospect of swapping Ozil’s services for those of Ziyech’s has these fans rubbing their hands in anticipation:
Hard to do that when the man doesn’t wanna move

Then Marc, u buy Ozil & Arsenal buy Ziyech. Win win situation.

That’s assuming we could sell Ozil for any decent amount based on his age, current wages and last seasons performance.

If Arsenal are smart they’d get rid of Ozil immediately and would bring Ziyech in without batting an eye

Someone tell Marc we can’t sell Ozil because a couple of geniuses decided to pay him £350k pw when he was finished ???????

Why doesn’t Marc do us a favor and do a swap. I am sure the arsenal board won’t mind.
