Claims suggesting what Laurent Koscielny’s motives were for refusing to take part in Arsenal’s pre-season programme in the United States have not got past these Gunners fans.
A report by Arsenal insider David Ornstein suggested that Laurent Koscielny’s desire to seek an Arsenal move was settled by the club’s failure to reach the Champions League – though supporters are not having it.
Some fans feel his reasons for wanting to leave lie in the player’s age and capabilities, while others believe the way he has gone about securing a Gunners departure has forever tarnished his reputation at Arsenal – and his lack of quality as a captain has led to the team’s downfalls on the pitch.
Meanwhile, some supporters are unhappy that the player is being seen to run away from a club having to deal with a third successive year in the Europa League.
A few even had the gall to call out the Frenchman for holding The Gunners back over the years, notably during 2018’s Europa League semi-final in which he gifted Antoine Griezmann a crucial away goal.
With the vast majority of these fans feeling he only has himself to blame, supporters have remained rather unforgiving of Koscielny’s recent actions:
Think he just lost all of his professionalism credits. This is Gallas-esque as far as our recent flaccid captains are concerned.

What was his role in that as captain? Shameful collapse late season and now he wants to run away from it. That is the leadership that got us into this mess.

You shouldn’t of let Giroud get ahead of you then or let Griezmann get that away goal at the emirates you wolly

No no no. He’s just old and knows he can’t take the pace of the prem any more. Wants a nice little retirement job in France. Don’t get it twisted.

Koscielny is the major reason Arsenal hasn’t played CL in the last two years
1 – Failure to stop Griezmann at the Emirates in a match which resulted into a 1all
2 – Playing with an injury in the final vs Chelsea (which he admitted later ‘he wasn’t effective because of that)

Last year he cost us the game against Atleti. This year, he was very solid since his return from injury but had a shocker against Chelsea and cost us a final again along with the other defenders. So how can he complain about Arsenal not getting CL, when he is one of the reasons?!

To go to another team that won’t have CL football? Baffling.
