For many Arsenal supporters, their prayers may about to be answered. L’Equipe (via GFFN) are reporting that calamity defender Shkodran Mustafi is subject of interest from AS Monaco who have enquired into signing him.

The 27-year-old is quite the unpopular figure amongst the Emirates fanbase and has already been booed twice this pre-season, in their opening US tour game against Colorado Rapids and this weekend against Lyon in the Emirates Cup. It is thought that Arsenal value the World Cup winner at €30m (£27m).

Mustafi joined the club in the summer of 2016 for a fee in excess of £35m from La Liga side Valencia and hasn’t lived up to expectations or the price tag.

In what has been a crazy week or so for much of the Gunners support, this may well be the icing on the cake and a number of fans took to Twitter to show their delight regarding the news.

A couple of supporters said that the potential departure of Mustafi is more exciting than the arrival of Nicolas Pepe so far this summer. Others simply wondered if they were dreaming as well as calling it the best week ever for Arsenal fans.

One Gooner even said we would pay for his flight and house – just anything to get him to Monaco whilst another claimed it would be the best bit of business the club have ever done.
