Arsenal fans searching for a silver lining to selling Lucas Torreira may have been given some hope that the club have a plan should AC Milan successfully lure him back to Italy.
Reports in the Italian press suggest that Arsenal will use any funds from a Torreira sale to press forward their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.
Rated at £27m, the 22-year-old is earning rave reviews from his showings at the Under-21 European Championships and Arsenal are thought to be keen on making Ceballos a Gunner this summer.
There will be a gap in Arsenal’s midfield being left as Aaron Ramsey leaves, and supporters on Twitter have been swayed by the club’s gameplan, with The Gunners also set to receive a Milan player – thought to be Kessie or Ricardo Rodriguez – as part of the deal that seals Torreira’s departure.
And with the prospect of funding a young prospect like Ceballos in the process, supporters seem happy to let the midfielder go despite his Arsenal career having only started a year ago.
By essentially gaining two players for the price of one, these Gooners would clearly be pleased if they were able to pull off such an ambitious deal:
