Good news has been hard to come by this summer with the lack of transfer activity at Arsenal, though an insight into the intentions of the Gunners board in the current window has brought brief joy to some of the club’s supporters.
After comments from Gunners insider David Ornstein on BBC Radio 5 Live, where it was suggested that Unai Emery could sell German centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, fans took to Twitter to express their relief that such plans are potentially in the works.
Mustafi has come in for much criticism in the past season, with his performance against Crystal Palace perhaps the epitome of his poor displays since joining the club in 2016.
Judging by the reaction to the manager’s plans, it seems the fans are looking forward to the defender’s exit – although some thought to question why the prospect of selling Mustafi supposedly only came to Emery’s attention after the Europa League final (which the defender did not play a part in).
With little funds accrued from departures so far this summer, Arsenal supporters could yet see a rather popular outgoing boosting their funds – if these comments are anything to go by:
