‘Feel like puking’ – Some Arsenal fans not impressed as midfielder linked with captaincy

After Atletico Madrid dropped their interest in an Arsenal player, you’d have thought fans would be relieved to see the Spanish giants opt for an alternative target.

But in the case of Granit Xhaka, disgruntled fans were hit with a double-whammy to their hopes of seeing the back of the midfielder.

Looking for a replacement for midfielder Rodri – who is said to be on the brink of a move to Manchester City – Diego Simeone’s side were thought to be lining up a move for Xhaka.

But after sealing a deal for Real Madrid’s Marcos Llorente, interest in the Swiss international has cooled.

And if that wasn’t enough for his naysayers, Xhaka is reportedly being tipped to assume the Gunners captaincy, further cementing his place in the Arsenal first team.

With Laurent Koscielny’s future at Arsenal hanging in the balance this summer, Arsenal may have to appoint a new permanent captain – with Xhaka being named as one of Unai Emery’s five potential skippers upon the manager’s arrival at the club.
