Arsenal are planning to open talks over a new long-term deal for Alexandre Lacazette after learning Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the French striker, according to reports.
The Catalan club are believed to be keen on acquiring the 27-year-old as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.
Lacazette joined the Gunners from Lyon in 2017 for around £47million and has since formed a solid partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang under Unai Emery.
The Frenchman’s form has apparently not gone unnoticed by Barcelona and now the Arsenal hierarchy want to sit down with the striker and his representatives at the end of the season to discuss an improved deal to discourage any move from the La Liga side this summer.
The Gunners feel Lacazette is happy at the Emirates and would consider committing his future to the club. It is believed both he and Aubameyang will be offered new deals and can expect to pocket wages closer to Mesut Ozil at around the £250,000-a-week mark.
