Arsenal extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 21 after a hard-fought and narrow 1-0 win against Huddersfield this afternoon.
So, having watched the game, here are my Arsenal player ratings:
Bernd Leno – Made a few decent interceptions from wide balls coming into the box but wasn’t really troubled. 6/10
Hector Bellerin – The Spaniard did well getting forward and caused some problems doing so to Huddersfield’s defence. 6/10
Stephan Lichtsteiner – Played on the right-side of the back three and did well, considering he is a right-back. Emery opted to replace him in the second-half and changed the system. 5/10
Sokratis – Was aggressive in the tackle and positioning was on point once again. A real leader in the back-line. Booked. 7/10
Shkodran Mustafi – Won most balls that were floated into the box and contained Huddersfield’s attack. Booked and picked up a knock in the process. 6/10
Sead Kolasinac – Got forward and defended well but his delivery into the box could have been a lot more clinical. 6/10
Lucas Torreira – He is getting better and better with every game. Covered every blade of grass, energetic throughout, got stuck in and scored the winner. Man of the Match for me. 7.5/10
Matteo Guendouzi – Fought hard alongside Torreira in midfield and found good positions to get things going forward. Played a big part in the winner. 6.5/10
Granit Xhaka – Kept things ticking in midfielder and delivered a few decent balls into the box to cause some problems. 6/10
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Had a couple of decent efforts in the first half and probably should’ve have scored in the second, if not for a tame header wide. Set-up the goal having made a good run in behind the defence. 6.5/10
Alexandre Lacazette – Didn’t really see much from the Frenchman to be honest apart from an offside goal being disallowed. Needs to do better to warrant regular starting berths. 5/10
SUBS:
Alex iwobi – Replaced Lichtsteiner as Emery opted for a new system in the second 45. His pace caused problems to Huddersfield’s back-line but his final ball was once again lacking. 5.5/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Came on for Lacazette at the start of the second-half and tried to create opportunities for Aubameyang upfront. Made some decent runs and got in the right areas but couldn’t get anything going. 6/10
Nacho Monreal – On for Mustafi in the 66th minute after the German picked up a knock and played in the left-side of the back three. 5/10
