11 players out of contract next summer Arsenal could sign in January

Full-backs

Konstantinos Stafylidis (Augsburg)

The Greek international, 24, has been with Bundesliga side Augsburg since 2015 before having a brief spell with Stoke City back in January until the end of last season, where he made five appearances for the Potters. Stafylidis has made just two appearances for Augsburg this season and seems out-of-favour when you consider he was a regular in the side for the first two seasons of his career at the club. He is very much viewed as a modern day full-back, a player who likes to bomb forward and is very much under the radar amongst the top European sides. Arsenal could do with another left-back on board with Nacho Monreal nearing 33 and Sead Kolasinac being Emery’s only other natural option in this position. Stafylidis would represent a bargain and has played in England before, and Sokratis could help him settle in quickly at the Emirates.

Alberto Moreno (Liverpool)

Reports last week suggested that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old and see the Spaniard as a long-term replacement for Monreal. Moreno is very much out of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans this season with the German favouring Andrew Robertson in the left-back role. The Spaniard has featured just three times for Liverpool, once in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup, and a move away from Anfield looks increasingly likely with every week that passes. Although he isn’t defensively brilliant, he makes up for it when going forward and is also a good deliverer of crosses. He can also play as a wide midfielder which is another area Arsenal should consider strengthening. So, Emery could effectively kill two birds with one stone by signing him in January – if Liverpool are willing to cut their losses.
