Arsenal are tracking CSKA Moscow’s Ilzat Ahkmetov, having watched him twice over the past week, according to reports.
An Arsenal scout was sent to Russia to look over the 20-year-old during their 2-1 Champions League home defeat to Roma and their 2-0 win in the Russian Premier League against Zenit St. Petersburg over the weekend.
The Russia Under-21 international impressed in both matches while the midfielder set up goals in both games.
Ahkmetov performances this season for CSKA Moscow had seen him earn his first call up to the Russian senior side for the international friendly tomorrow night against Germany, but an injury sustained against Zenit last Sunday meant he had to be withdrawn from the squad.
Ahkmetov has made 14 appearances for CSKA in the Russian Premier League thus far, and a further four in the Champions League.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a move for the in January or continue keeping tabs on the young midfielder.
Roma are also believed to be keen on Ahkmetov.
