Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has been omitted from France’s squad for the games against Iceland and Germany later this month.
The Frenchman has scored three goals in eight games so far this season, and many expected manager Didier Deschamps to name the 27-year-old in his squad.
However, Deschamps is no stranger to making surprising selection decisions. The France boss has consistently omitted the likes of Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte and Paris Saint-Germain Adrien Rabiot from the team.
Despite the surprise omission, fans on Twitter were mostly happy about the decision as it ensures Lacazette will be fit and raring to go after the international break:
Brilliant news.

Some supporters did still think it was poor judgement from Deschamps:
Dechamps just doesn't like him.

He obviously doesn't rate him.

He's going to make them regret it.

Lacazette has struck up a good partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this campaign, and despite the two players seemingly being rivals for the same position in the team, manager Unai Emery has managed to fit the pair of them into his system.
