Aaron Ramsey is understood to be ‘excited’ by the prospect of playing under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, thus casting doubt over his future at Arsenal.

The 27-year-old’s contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season despite previously agreeing a new four-year deal to remain at the north London club which was then withdrawn as talks broke down.

The Gunners now face losing the Wales international on a free next summer unless they can get the ball rolling over a new deal once again.

Several clubs have been monitoring the midfielder’s situation at Arsenal, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus. However, Liverpool reportedly lead the chase.

The Mirror suggests that Ramsey will favour a move to Liverpool among all others as he is a big admirer of Klopp and his playing methods.

It would also see Ramsey get the chance to reunite with former Gunner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was sold to the Merseyside club last summer.

Unai Emery has asked Ramsey to play in several positions this season, which led to the midfielder discussing with his manager what position he sees him in his plans.

Arsenal are known for balancing their wage bill and it is unclear whether there are restrictions on what they can offer their players.

Ramsey currently pockets in the region of £110,000-a-week but will no doubt want improved terms giving his importance to the squad.

Arsenal always seem to have a contractual saga like this every season which leaves fans a little bemused as to why it keeps occurring.

Ramsey is seen by many as an important player for Arsenal, but some beg to differ. Perhaps its best for the Gunners to now part company with the Welshman in hope of recouping a suitable transfer fee rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season.
