Velez Sarsfield midfielder Matias Vargas has stated he would like to sign for Arsenal.

Asked about where he would like to move to by an Argentinian TV show, who suggested the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus or Liverpool, the 21-year-old was quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“The Arsenal.”

Vargas goes on to explain that he followed the Gunners as a child, and would like to play for the London club if the opportunity arose.

The midfielder is in the early stages of his career. He made his league debut for Velez back in 2015, but it was only last season that he managed to become a first team regular for the Argentine club.

Playing mostly as a winger, Vargas scored five goals and provided an impressive 11 assists in just 25 league appearances. He carried that form into this campaign and has recently made his international debut for Argentina’s senior side.

He played the first 45 minutes in the 3-0 friendly win over Guatemala last month.
