Tottenham have joined Arsenal in pursuing Porto midfielder Hector Herrera, according to Record (via TEAMTalk).

The Portuguese publication has added to speculation that the Mexican international could depart the Estadio do Dragao in the summer, but they believe Spurs could be his destination after they sent scouts to watch the player.

Last month, Italian newspaper the Corriere Dello Sport reported that the Gunners, Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and Barcelona were all keen on the 28-year-old.

Herrera’s current deal at Porto expires at the end of the season, and he will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement in January.

The Mexican midfielder could be lined up as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey. Whether Arsenal will look to make a cut-price offer when the transfer window reopens, it isn’t known.  Ramsey is expected to depart in similar fashion with his contract running down.

Herrera has made ten appearances in all competitions this campaign for Porto, scoring one goal.
