Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira once again looked impressive after coming on against Cardiff yesterday, and many Gunners fans have been calling on manager Unai Emery to select the Uruguayan from the start.
Many think that Matteo Guendouzi should be the one to make way, but club legend Ian Wright thinks that his midfield partner Granit Xhaka probably should be dropped instead:
#AFC | @IanWright0 saying that he would "probably" drop Xhaka in order for Torreira to start. He adds that Guendouzi has to keep playing.
Right call, would you say? I agree.

Many fans on Twitter think it is a good idea due to the Swiss international’s form:
It’s definitely worth a try surely ???????????

No question. Improves us in two key ways. Gives us two ball winners in the middle of the pitch. And we're better in transition. Xhaka is too slow. Holds the ball too long.

Right Call…Guendouzi and Torreira midfield is the way
— Sammie (@Sammie_511) 3 September 2018
Yes. Guendouzi offers more defensively than Granite and is more mobile.

I think long term Xhaka will be part of the 3, but Guendouzi hasn't done anything wrong to deserve to be dropped right now. Should play on merit.

Xhaka should be a cup player and a sub man hes awful

Others, don’t think a Torreira/Guendouzi would be effective:
Listen I’m not a big xhaka fan, but Guendouzi isn’t ready to play week in week out in the premier league.

Xhaka has been impressive when he’s played alongside torreira. Guendouzi has been poor the last 2 games. Has a great future but xhaka and torreira for me for now
— Paul Martin Mc Daid (@PaulMartinGreen) 2 September 2018
Disagree. Should play Xhaka and Torreira. Drop guendouzi

Personally, I think the Uruguayan should definitely be starting matches, but I don’t see Emery picking him alongside Guendouzi. Xhaka has started every match under the Spaniard, and although he was taken off against both City and Chelsea, he seems to be a trusted first team player.
Whether he deserves that status is another question entirely. He certainly hasn’t started the season well, but I don’t see him being taken out of the firing line any time soon.
