Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the Premier League season last week and the Gunners could continue to struggle.

That is according to former Arsenal defender Paul Merson, who told Sky Sports he was not surprised by the loss to the defending champions last week and tipped Chelsea to emerge as victors in Saturday’s London derby.

Arsenal have not won a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge since their famous 5-3 victory in 2011, where Robin Van Persie scored a hat-trick, and the long wait for bragging rights in west London will continue according to Merson as he has predicted a 2-1 victory for the Blues.

“Chelsea had a great result and Arsenal’s was disappointing. I say disappointing but I don’t know what everybody was expecting? That a new manager was going to come in and they’d wipe the floor with Man City?

“I’ll go with Chelsea, 2-1, I think they’ll just have too much for Arsenal.”
