Arsenal have been linked with a host of top-class players throughout the transfer window but the chances of arrivals on Deadline Day are slim.

The Gunners have been attributed with long-term interest in Argentina international Christian Pavon, who has caught the eye in South America with Boca Juniors, but a deal will not go ahead on Deadline Day.

The Independent states that the 22-year-old will not be going anywhere this summer but the club admit his future does like in Europe, opening the possibility for Arsenal to return for the World Cup ace in the January window.

Arsenal’s wide options include Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi and Reiss Nelson but, following the departure of Lucas Perez and the expected loss of Danny Welbeck, the Gunners lack depth to compete on all fronts.

Pavon has a €50m release clause in his Boca contract, which would need to be matched to complete a deal.
