Arsenal have returned from their pre-season tour of Singapore in good form, having hit five goals past Paris Saint-Germain and seeing a number of their young talents impress in the Far East.
Emile Smith Rowe was one of the teenagers that shone during the club’s two fixtures in Singapore, where Unai Emery’s side were also defeated by Atletico Madrid on penalties, and caught the eye with a stunning goal against the Ligue 1 champions.
Having only recently turned 18, Smith Rowe is now eyeing a breakthrough season with the Gunners as he seeks to secure minutes in the cup and is also pushing to make his Premier League debut – with no desire to leave on-loan.
Speaking to The Mirror, the teenage ace said:
“All the players have been so welcoming. I know a couple of the young boys, I’ve played with them quite a lot. But to be with the older players and for them to be so welcoming is just great.
“I’ve trained with the senior team before but this is my only real chance that I’ve had so far. Lacazette and Aubameyang have looked out for me, they’re so funny and so welcoming.
“My long-term goal is to get in the first team permanently but this season it’s to try to gets many minutes as I can in the Europa League and cups, and hopefully make my Premier League debut.”
