Arsenal’s spell under Unai Emery did not get off to the best of starts on Sunday as the Gunners fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium to defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
The hosts struggled to get a foothold in the game due to the Citizens’ array of attacking stars but did have a few moments of inspiration, with Alexandre Lacazette, off the bench, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang demonstrating that Arsenal have a few weapons of their own this season.
In order for the pair to play together though, one of the forwards will have to play in a more unfamiliar role on the left-hand side – but Aubameyang has stated he is happy to play in that position to help gel his relationship with Lacazette.
“We really get on well. There is a spark between us when we are both on the pitch together. We look for each other, we saw it today [Sunday] against City when he came on. I don’t mind playing on the left if Laca is in the centre. We both want to do our best for the team.”
