Arsenal have impressed with their business so far in the transfer market but there’s further work for Unai Emery to complete within the squad.

The Gunners are growing increasingly concerned by the fact that Aaron Ramsey has entered the final 12 months of his deal, which leaves the club at risk of seeing the Wales international run down his contract to seal a cut-price exit like Alexis Sanchez did in January.

While the north London side have been said to be confident of agreeing a renewal, Ramsey himself has now admitted uncertainty on the situation when speaking to Sky Sports News.

“We’ll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking. I’m not sure exactly what it hinges on, I’m just leaving it to them to discuss and to figure it out but we are yet to come to an agreement.”

Currently involved in the pre-season tour in Singapore, the 27-year-old is a favoured candidate to take over the captaincy following Per Mertesacker’s retirement.
