Unai Emery is overseeing widespread changes following his appointment at Arsenal and reports have stated he’s interested in a reunion at the Emirates Stadium.

The Spaniard’s push for midfield reinforcements has led him to target Sevilla and Argentina ace Ever Banega, who he has worked with previously at Valencia and Sevilla.

Arsenal have seen their midfield quota reduced by the imminent departures of Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere, both of whom will leave on a free transfer, and Banega has been identified as the ideal recruit in the middle of the park.

However, The Independent states Sevilla have made it clear the 29-year-old remains a part of their plans and will not be sold under any circumstances – although Arsenal could skip negotiations with the LaLiga side by activating Banega’s £17.5m release clause.

Sevilla, who like Arsenal failed to secure Champions League football for next season, will make it clear to Banega that he’s crucial to their plans and believe that the Gunners have bigger priorities in the market.
