A lot has been said about new Arsenal boss Unai Emery and his control over the club’s activity in the market but it seems the Spaniard still has a significant say in transfer dealings.

The Daily Mirror states Emery has been pushing for the Gunners to sign 29-year-old Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi in the market, who he signed for the Andalusian side, and Arsenal have backed the 36-year-old in the market.

N’Zonzi, who has earned experience in Premier League football playing for Blackburn and Stoke City previously, is keen to reunite with Emery at the Emirates Stadium and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is ready to push for his services.

It’s stated that Mislintat considered the experienced France international in January before deciding against a move but Emery’s desire to link-up with the player he crafted into a crucial part of his Sevilla side may prove decisive.

Mislintat is eyeing alternatives though, including Watford’s Abdolaye Doucoure, as the Gunners seek to add a combative midfielder to their ranks this summer.
