Arsenal’s managerial search reached a conclusion following the appointment of Unai Emery but that hasn’t stopped plenty of reports and speculation floating around.

Before the appointment of the former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain boss, it was widely reported that ex-Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta was the leading candidate to take charge at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Arsenal elected with a more experienced option and Arteta remained in his position as assistant to Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions Manchester City – although he could still be making a move into management.

Spanish outlet Sport state LaLiga minnows Girona, who have close ties to the Citizens, are keen on making the former midfielder their new manager ahead of next season’s campaign.

Girona are in the market for a new boss after losing Pablo Machin to Sevilla, who impressed after leading the club to a tenth-placed finish in their first campaign in the top-flight of Spanish football.

Whether Arteta would seriously consider joining the club remains to be seen but Arteta is certainly one to watch in the coming years.
