Arsenal are rapidly approaching the end of a disappointing campaign, where the Gunners have missed two golden opportunities to wave goodbye to Arsene Wenger with trophies he’s never lifted before.

The north London side were swept aside by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final back in February and then lost over two legs to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-finals, which also ensured they’d be without Champions League football for another season.

Amidst all this, star players have struggled for consistency and The Sun states figures within the squad are growing increasingly frustrated with World Cup winner Mesut Ozil, who missed Sunday’s 5-0 drubbing of Burnley and is unlikely to feature again this season.

Wenger himself has stated the reason for Ozil’s absence is due to a back injury, which the Germany international has struggled with in the past, but many are suggesting that this is simply an excuse – a view that’s reportedly shared by some within the squad.

Ozil signed a mega new contract earlier this year to end speculation on his future, ruling out the prospect of a free transfer this summer, but will need to pick-up his performances if he’s to get back on-side with the fans and his team-mates.
