Arsenal are eyeing a wealth of transfer business this summer and the Gunners look set to be involved in a fierce tussle to land one of English football’s most exciting prospects.
The Sun states Arsenal, along with Tottenham and Manchester City, are preparing to swoop for Norwich City’s England U21 international James Maddison, who is expected to cost around £25m if he’s to leave the Championship side this summer.
Maddison has become highly-rated with his performances in the second-tier this season, scoring 15 goals, and is keen to leave the Canaries after they failed to make the play-offs, as he seeks to test himself at a higher level.
Everton, Southampton and Brighton are also keen on the 21-year-old, who received a huge boost this week with the news that his injury picked up in the 5-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday a few years ago was not as bad as initially feared.
Early indications suggested the young midfielder could be sidelined for six months but it’s now expected he will return to fitness in mid-July, giving him time to prepare for the new season.
