Arsenal are set for wholesale changes this summer and a number of players within the Gunners’ squad have a vast amount of speculation orientating around their future’s.

One of those attracting plenty of headlines is England international Jack Wilshere, who is rapidly approaching the end of his contract and looks increasingly likely to be available on a free transfer this summer.

Wilshere is not happy with the renewal offer currently put on the table by the Gunners, which demands a decreased wage and orientates around bonuses, whilst the midfielder believes he’s proved his worth with 31 appearances across all competitions this season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has now waded in on the situation, telling beIN Sports he’s desperate for the academy graduate to renew.

“I can only reassure him that I want him to stay and we make him a proposal and after that we also have to accept that Jack is at an age where he will have offers from somewhere else. Personally, I have put my weight in for him to stay, I want him to stay and I think he’s an Arsenal man.”

“Gattuso said the other day that he has the technique of a Spanish player and the character of an English player and I think it’s well-judged. So that’s why you want him to stay at the club.”

Wilshere has endured a number of injury issues in recent seasons and was forced to pull out of the England squad ahead of the victory over Holland on Friday.
