Arsenal face a major test this summer as they seek to improve their squad with a major recruitment drive and the potential absence of Champions League football could be a huge problem to overcome.

The Gunners are poised to miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League for a second season in a row, leaving Arsenal relying on Europa League victory to secure a return to Europe’s elite competition.

Even if they do return to Europe’s biggest stage, landing top-class targets ahead of European rivals could still prove to be difficult and Arsenal have been handed a major blow by Brazilian starlet Malcom, who was first targeted by the Gunners in January.

Arsenal are ready to revive their interest in the Bordeaux star this summer but the 21-year-old has stated it would be a ‘dream’ to move to Bayern Munich. Questioned about his future, he said:

“Playing at Bayern Munich would be a dream come true, it is one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

However, Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes has recently suggested that Malcom is not a target for the Bundesliga leaders this summer.
