Arsenal face a stern test ahead of them this summer as they seek to rebuild their underperforming squad, though it seems they could be forced to replace areas of their core that was not initially being considered.

Spanish outlet AS cite reports that claim serial European champions Real Madrid are expressing an interest in Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson, who the Gunners fear losing for nothing as he’s entered the final 18 months of his deal.

Nelson is highly regarded at the Emirates Stadium but has seen competition for places increase in the mid-season window following the arrivals of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, which may lead him to consider an exit.

Arsenal already suffered a blow in January as they lost midfielder Marcus McGuane to Barcelona, with the Gunners experiencing a new trend in English football that has seen younger players seek opportunities abroad- which have failed to occur within the Premier League.

Nelson has appeared for the first-team this season, playing in both the Premier League and the Europa League, but was an unused substitute for the weekend’s 3-0 victory over Watford.
