Arsenal are looking to considerably improve their ranks this summer after another disappointing campaign in the Premier League, where the Gunners are poised to miss out on a top-four finish for the second year in a row.
Arsene Wenger has bolstered his attacking ranks significantly in the past 18 months by landing Alexandre Lacazette, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as well as signing Mesut Ozil to a new deal, and the French boss is now looking to improve his squad at the other end.
Defensive reinforcements are a priority and Arsenal have been linked with the services of Napoli ace Elseid Hysaj, who has opened the door for a summer switch by informing the Italian side that at least one club are interested in activating his €50m release-clause.
However, Italian outlet Il Mattino suggest that Arsenal and other interested parties are poised to miss out on Hysaj’s signature, as the 24-year-old is on the verge of signing a contract renewal with the Serie A title chasers that will secure his future and remove his current clause.
