Arsene Wenger is reportedly eyeing one final hurrah in the transfer market in the form of a legacy signing and seems to have set his sights on a French compatriot.
Speculation on the 68-year-old’s future at the Emirates Stadium continues to mount, with a growing number of supporters keen for the Gunners to move away from their long-serving manager at the end of the season.
Wenger still intends to remain in charge next season though and is eyeing the signing of a star this summer who can excel in his final campaign at the club, before then continuing to shine after the Arsenal legend has moved away from north London.
Spanish outlet Sport state the man in Wenger’s sights is Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, as they claim that Arsenal are ready to launch a £44m swoop to bring the 24-year-old to the Emirates Stadium and reunite him with Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsenal have been encouraged by words from Fekir’s agent, who stated the French international is keen to move to a top ten club, and see the Ligue 1 ace as the ideal replacement to fill the void left by Alexis Sanchez’s January departure.
