Arsenal face a stern battle this summer as the Gunners seek to rejuvenate their underperforming side and central midfield is likely to be a key area of focus.

The north London side face the growing prospect of losing Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere for free this summer, whilst there’s also concerns that Aaron Ramsey could leave in similar circumstances when his deal expires in 2019.

Arsene Wenger’s side have been linked with a host of potential recruits in this area and have now received a boost in the chase for one target, as Watford may be forced to sell stand-out performer Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Daily Mirror states Watford’s battle to remain financially strong means that Doucoure, rated at around £40m, could be sold- potentially sparking a bidding war amongst Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.

However, the Hornets could instead raise funds by opting to sell Brazilian starlet Richarlison, who enjoyed a stellar start to the campaign but has struggled to find consistency since, although it was stated earlier this year that he’s also a target for the Gunners.
