Arsenal have sent scouts to watch a central midfielder on the continent yet again, although they haven’t had much luck.

Turkish Football report that the Gunners sent representatives to watch the Istanbul derby between Besiktas and Fenerbache, with the north London side tracking Turkish midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup once again.

The former Arsenal man has earned a strong reputation with his performances for Besiktas and the Gunners are exploring the option of bringing him back to the Premier League. However, they haven’t had much luck.

Arsenal scouts were first said to be in attendance for the recent Champions League tie between Besiktas and Bayern Munich, where the Turkish side were comfortably beaten and Ozyakup didn’t feature, and he was out of the team once again this weekend.

Besiktas came from behind to win 3-1, with Ricardo Qauresma being the star of the show, but Ozyakup picked up a stomach bug ahead of kick-off that ruled him out of the game.

Arsenal are likely to continue their scouting mission for Ozyakup though and could make a move at the end of the season.
